AI should never put workers at risk. Help make that happen in NSW

Right now, the NSW government is proposing new laws to modernise work health and safety systems in NSW to ensure new technologies don’t put workers at risk.

These new laws are necessary because some employers are using new technology to sidestep their safety responsibilities, exposing workers to real harm. It’s perhaps unsurprising, then, that some employers are pushing back against these proposed laws.

Will you call on your local MP and Upper House members to support laws that extend WHS protections to digital systems at work?

I support these WHS laws

What will the new laws do?

  • Define digital work systems (like tracking devices, performance apps and surveillance tools).
  • Make employers responsible for managing risks.
  • Require checks for risks like unrealistic workloads, performance pressure and surveillance misuse.
  • Give workers powers to inspect digital systems.
  • Require a review if national laws change.

Digital systems like artificial intelligence and algorithms are increasingly shaping how work is organised, managed and monitored. Employers must be held accountable for their use of these technologies. Safety must always come first.

Call on your MP today to support this important legislation.
