As part of our new Insignia Enterprise Agreement, members have won the right to choose whether to keep their annual leave loading as a separate entitlement/payment or have it rolled into their base salary.
If you do not inform Insignia that you want to keep your annual leave loading separate, it will automatically be rolled into your base salary. Eligible colleagues must act by Tuesday 18 February 2025 to maintain it as a separate entitlement.
How to notify Insignia to keep annual leave loading separate
You can opt-in via DocuSign. Insignia has already begun emailing eligible colleagues affected by this change with detailed instructions on how to complete the DocuSign form.
Haven’t received an email?

Why keep annual leave loading separate?
The FSU encourages members to keep their annual leave loading as a separate entitlement as it offers several clear advantages:
Transparency and clarity
- A standalone provision explicitly outlines your entitlement.
- It provides a clear distinction between base pay and allowances.
Protection against loss of entitlement
- It safeguards the entitlement from erosion during future negotiations.
- Rolling annual leave loading into your base salary makes it more vulnerable to being absorbed into wage increases over time.
Maintains base pay competitiveness
- Combining it into base salary may make your base wage appear artificially higher than market rates. While this might seem advantageous, it can hinder meaningful comparisons with competitors’ salaries and potentially affect recruitment and benchmarking.
Strengthens your Enterprise Agreement
- Keeping it as a standalone provision creates a solid foundation for building on entitlements in future negotiations.
If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your FSU team.
