ANZ defers negotiations to consider our Suncorp Bank EA asks

Negotiations between ANZ and the FSU for our new Suncorp Bank Enterprise Agreement (EA) were due to resume last week.

However, ANZ was not in a position to respond to several of our most critical claims – including around pay and hours of work.

As a result, ANZ requested (and the FSU agreed to) a short deferral of negotiations to allow ANZ’s bargaining team time to seek direction from senior executives on the following key issues:

  • Guaranteed pay increases for all Suncorp Bank colleagues that address the real pay cuts experienced over the past five years.
  • Maintain our current 37.5-hour work week.
  • No reduction to redundancy entitlements.
  • Improved flexibility in working from home.
  • Ensure Suncorp Bank colleagues have a say in the future of our EA.

Let’s keep ANZ at the bargaining table

So far, ANZ’s offer has failed to adequately address the issues FSU members have raised (read our full analysis here).

If ANZ puts a substandard offer to a vote, we must be ready to vote ‘no’ to send a clear message to management: that we expect an agreement that values and respects our work. Will you commit to voting ‘no’ if the time comes?

I’m prepared to vote ‘no’

Upcoming information sessions

Negotiations for our new Agreement will resume from 5 June. We expect a response from ANZ on our key claims around this time, including on pay, hours of work and redundancy entitlements.

To learn about ANZ’s response and other important updates, please register for one of our upcoming report-back meetings:

These sessions are open to all Suncorp Bank employees, so be sure to forward this email to your colleagues.

Together, we can hold ANZ accountable and secure a fair outcome for all of us at Suncorp Bank.
