ANZ heading to ballot. What you need to know before voting

We’ve just come from our final bargaining meeting with ANZ over our Suncorp Bank Enterprise Agreement. Disappointingly, ANZ has decided to progress without our support. Instead of continuing to work with us towards a fair outcome, they’ve decided to put their proposal to a ballot.

That’s despite raising our concerns that ANZ’s proposal falls well short of delivering genuine value for members. It delivers no real wage growth, it expects you to work longer, and it weakens key protections many of us rely on.

The ballot is expected to open on 11 August.

Time to know what you’re voting on

Now more than ever, it’s critical that we all understand what’s really in this proposal — and what’s at stake if it goes through.

Our union will be running some important union briefing sessions next week to walk you through the detail and answer your questions. Please share this invite with your colleagues and make time to come along.

Wednesday 16 July, 8am (AEST)

Thursday 17 July, 12pm (AEST)

Thursday 17 July, 8pm (AEST)

If you can’t attend one of these times, or you have any questions ahead of the sessions, please email [email protected]and we will be in touch.

This is a critical moment. Let’s make sure everyone understands what is being proposed before casting our vote.

Management’s EA survey

ANZ has now responded to our questions regarding the confidentiality of their staff survey, which was issued on Wednesday. While they have provided assurances that individual responses will remain anonymous, management has also confirmed that the survey results will not influence the proposed package being put to ballot.

The best way to secure an improved offer is by making sure our colleagues understand what’s at stake and are informed ahead of the vote.

Please encourage them to attend one of our briefing sessions next week by forwarding them this email.

If you’re not yet a member of our union, now is the time to join to ensure you’re protected throughout this process.
