Yesterday’s snap union lunchtime rally outside ANZ headquarters was a show of strength and unity against Nuno Matos’ cruel 3500 job cuts and failure to properly consult.
We now know that these cuts are all in the name of boosting ANZ’s profits by a further $800 million … though that hasn’t stopped management from dishing out millions more in bonuses to top executives.
Thank you to those who attended our rally and supported your colleagues. Remember, we’re always stronger when we stand together, and we’re backed up by hard-won industrial rights.
Importantly, participating in these actions helps turn up the heat on management. Mr Matos needs to understand that no matter how big a company or how massive its profits, workers have rights and protections, and employers have legal obligations they must follow.
