Aware Super EA voted up – next steps

A majority of Aware Super employees (85%) have voted in favour of our proposed Enterprise Agreement. This means the new and improved pay and working conditions that were negotiated by the FSU and your colleagues will soon apply.

Despite the Agreement achieving majority support, we understand this isn’t the outcome everyone had hoped for.

Remember, the point of each Agreement is to improve on the last – and in this round of negotiations, we’ve secured some great wins, including:

  • an improved pay offer with some CPI safeguards, including a $1250 base salary increase if CPI is greater than 5.5% in FY 2027 and greater than 4.5% in FY 2028.
  • 2.5% pay increase for levels 1 – 5.
  • superannuation increased to 13% from FY 2028.
  • overtime pay for everyone earning under $160,000 a year.
  • AI protections, including consultation safeguards not seen in other agreements in our sector.
  • 12 days paid reproductive health care leave.
  • Additional day of wellbeing leave.
  • Redundancy cap increased from 40 to 60 weeks.

FSU members made all the difference with securing these improvements. By voting no in December and rejecting Aware Super’s initial sub-standard proposal, we shifted management’s position on numerous key items and improved the offer. We couldn’t have done this without members standing together and demanding a fairer deal. So congratulations to all FSU members for this mammoth effort.

What happens now?

Aware Super will now prepare an application for the proposed Agreement to be approved by the Fair Work Commission. Our union will prepare a submission to ensure all regulatory requirements are met.

Our 2.5% pay increase will also be applied in the first applicable pay period in June.

Ensuring our improved conditions are correctly implemented will be key – and having strong union membership at Aware Super is the best way to enforce compliance. If you’re not yet a member of our union, join today.
