Bankwest announces closure of all branches – FSU is here to support you

As you will already be aware, Bankwest today announced it will close its entire branch network in 2024 and move to becoming a fully digital bank – 45 West Australian branches will shut by October this year and 350 vital jobs will be lost.

A remaining 15 regional Bankwest branches will be converted to CBA branches by the end of the year.

Bankwest has said the closures will be undertaken in stages and staff will be informed when it will occur.

In light of this announcement, we have asked Bankwest to bolster their Employee Assistance Program to ensure staff can access workplace support services as needed.

We know this announcement has come as a shock to many of you. We are outraged by this decision and know it will have a devastating impact on staff during an already difficult time, and on the most vulnerable members of our community.

The FSU is here to support you

Remember, the FSU is here to support you as much as possible now and into the future. We understand frontline staff will likely have to field the brunt of customer reactions and complaints while coming to terms with this.
