National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year (Sunday 7 July to Sunday 14 July 2024) to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
All Australians have a unique chance to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth. You can support and get to know your local Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities through activities and events held across the country.
During this week, let’s acknowledge that the struggle for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people persists. Together, as a community, let’s reflect on the past, embrace the present, and work towards a brighter future for everyone.
If you previously chose to work on the 26 January public holiday and opted to take a different day off instead, NAIDOC Week presents the perfect opportunity to do so and celebrate First Nations culture – find out more here.
