Know your rights – Suncorp Bank Consumer Distribution restructure

ANZ has announced a significant restructure of Suncorp Bank’s Consumer Distribution business.

The proposed changes will impact approximately 69 jobs, with employees facing possible redundancy.

The FSU is holding urgent consultation meetings for anyone impacted by these changes. If you know a colleague who may be impacted, please forward them this email and ask them to register.

If you are unable to attend one of the meetings, you can still have your voice heard. Reply to this email and we’ll be in touch.

Our rights during consultation

Our Suncorp Bank Enterprise Agreement gives us rights during periods of significant change. Management is required to:

  • consult with you about the introduction of these proposed changes.
  • speak with you about the effects the changes are likely to have on you.
  • consider your feedback and any proposed alterations you have.
  • implement measures to avert or mitigate the adverse effects of the changes.

Consultation closes on Thursday 20 November, so we need to act quickly to ensure our questions and concerns are heard.

Government job commitments

As part of ANZ’s acquisition of Suncorp Bank, Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers imposed conditions on the sale requiring that there be no net job losses across Australia as a result of the transaction within Suncorp Bank for a period of three years following the transaction.

The FSU has already called on ANZ to explain how this recent announcement does not constitute a breach of this commitment.
