We demand job security at Bendigo Bank

It’s been a few weeks since Bendigo Bank announced its disastrous ‘strategic partnerships’ with Infosys and Genpact.

Technology workers are the first ones copping the brunt of this 'partnership', with over 150 workers facing the prospect of having their employment transferred to Infosys.

Unfortunately, this is just the beginning, and it's only a matter of time before non-Technology workers also face these impacts.

We’ve also heard reports of ‘blueprinting’ occurring across many areas of the bank. Make no mistake, the purpose of this process is for the bank to identify functions, processes and work to outsource and offshore to Genpact.

We deserve – and demand – job security

It’s become increasingly clear that Bendigo Bank’s approach to consultation is less about listening to workers and more about delivering the bank’s pre-determined changes.

That’s simply not good enough.

As workers who will be directly impacted by future changes, we do have a say, and Bendigo Bank must listen.

It’s time we work together to demand a fairer and decent approach – an approach that actually considers our views, gives us choice, and provides support if we are impacted by change.

If we all stand firmly together and speak through our union, we stand a greater chance of forcing management to genuinely listen and consider alternate options – and importantly, prioritise job security.

Here’s what we’re demanding from Bendigo Bank:

  1. No forced redundancies
  2. Early and transparent communication
  3. Genuine and informed consultation
  4. Approach to workforce reductions
  5. Voluntary transfers of employment
  6. Extended redeployment and trial opportunities
  7. Priority placement and flexible work options
  8. Protection from replacement activities
  9. Enhanced redundancy support and skills investment
  10. Continuation of employee benefits
