Will voting NO delay our pay rise until next year?

There’s a lot of misinformation being spread about what happens if we reject ANZ’s appalling offer for our new Suncorp Bank Enterprise Agreement.

ANZ is trying to convince you to vote for an Agreement that will benefit the bank but leave you worse off.

We’ve seen this tactic from employers before… so here are the facts you need to know before voting next week.

How do I vote?

On Monday 11 August, you’ll receive an email from CorpVote — a secure, independent voting provider. It will include your Voter Access Code so you can log in. The email will go to both your Suncorp and ANZ inbox.

Is my vote confidential?

Yes. Your vote is completely anonymous and confidential. CorpVote is a trusted independent provider, and protecting voter privacy is central to how they operate.

What happens if we vote NO?

Under the Fair Work Act, ANZ must resume negotiations with our union if their offer is rejected. A NO vote doesn’t delay a new agreement — it pushes ANZ to deliver a better one.

A strong NO result sends a clear message:

  • This proposal does not meet our expectations.
  • Workers will not accept inferior conditions or uncertainty.
  • ANZ must come back with an improved offer that respects Suncorp employees.

Will we be stuck without a pay rise until October 2026 if we vote NO?

No. There is no legal or any other requirement tying our next pay rise or Agreement to October 2026. If this offer is rejected:

  • bargaining must continue under the Fair Work Act.
  • a better offer can be reached and voted on at any time, including this year.
  • a new Agreement can take effect shortly after Fair Work Commission approval.

Do I need to have my pay deposited into an ANZ account?

Yes. Under ANZ’s proposal, all staff would be required to have their salary deposited into an ANZ or Suncorp account.

When will we know the result?

The ballot closes on Wednesday 20 August, 5pm (AEST). We expect results soon after. Once confirmed, the FSU will notify members and outline next steps.

A better Agreement is within reach — but only if we vote for it

ANZ needs to know its offer doesn’t cut it. Voting NO pressures ANZ to put forward a fairer, stronger offer that respects our work and contributions.

History shows this, as FSU National President Wendy Streets explains:
