Suncorp Insurance reveals pay offer and more

After weeks of FSU members calling on Suncorp Insurance to step up with a real cost-of-living pay offer and industry leading conditions, management has now revealed where they stand on our new Enterprise Agreement

Next week, we’ll hold two report-back meetings for FSU members. These meetings will be critical for considering management’s proposal, providing our feedback, and deciding where we go from here.

Please register for one of our FSU meetings:

Tuesday 12 November, 7pm AEDT (6pm Qld time)

Wednesday 13 November, 1pm AEDT (12pm Qld time)

While we will discuss management’s proposal in full at next week’s meetings, here are some of the key takeaways:

  • Guaranteed pay increase of 10% over three years for employees in pay bands A1-A4 and in fixed salaried bands 1-4.
  • A merit pool of 9% over three years for employees in fixed salary bands 5 and 6. A discretionary market-based merit pool, approved by the board, would be applied to fixed salary bands 7 and 8.
  • Move existing policy arrangements into new Enterprise Agreement, including:
    • 20 weeks of paid parental leave for primary carers and four weeks for secondary carers. Super would also be provided on paid and unpaid leave.
    • 15 days of domestic violence leave, with discretion for management to provide additional leave where required.
    • Reference to emergency response leave, military leave, volunteer leave and gender affirmation leave.
  • All allowances to be updated and indexed over the life of the agreement.
  • Paid job search leave of one day per week during the notice period where a role is made redundant.
  • Update flexible ways of working clause and reference arrangements such as working from home.
  • Flexible leave arrangements increased to five days (pro-rata for part timers) and remove the barrier to be able to take in conjunction with long service leave and annual leave. This would also be extended to MTC employees after 12 months’ service.
  • Loyalty leave – one additional leave day for every fifth year of service.
  • Include reference to FSU representative rights, consistent with the Banking and Finance Industry Award. FSU role would also be referenced in the dispute process.
  • Option for employees to forgo an unpaid meal break, by agreement, when working a shift of six hours or less.

Further details will be provided at FSU meetings next week.

Next steps

Remember, we all need to play our part to achieve the agreement we want. That includes understanding fully what management is proposing and how it compares with other employers across the insurance sector.

The next phase of negotiations will be critical, so be sure to attend one of the above FSU meetings next week

If you’re not already an FSU member, be part of the team that’s fighting for a fair deal at Suncorp today.

See you online next week!
