The good, bad and ugly of Hostplus’ offer – FSU info session

Voting for Hostplus’ proposed Enterprise Agreement opens Wednesday 6 May, 9am (AEST).

on Monday 4 May, 12.30pm (AEST) where we’ll unpack the good, the bad and the ugly of management’s offer in detail.

What’s in the proposed Agreement?

While we’ve negotiated some improvements, management’s offer still contains several issues, including a disgraceful overtime clause that would normalise unpaid work at Hostplus.

Commit to vote No and send a clear message to management that their offer falls short.

Here’s how the offer stacks up:

The good:

  • Five days of reproductive health care leave.
  • Guaranteed pay increases:
    • Year 1: 4.5%
    • Year 2: 4%
    • Year 3 and 4: 3.5% or CPI (whichever is higher).
  • Paid parental leave increased to 20 weeks (up from 18 weeks).

The bad:

  • No increase to superannuation contributions on paid or unpaid parental leave.
  • No genuine commitment to address staff shortages.
  • Five weeks annual leave rejected.
  • No protections around AI and personal data - no safeguards for how our data is used or when AI is introduced, and no commitment to job security or providing reskilling for the jobs of the future.

The ugly:

  • One of the worst overtime clauses in any enterprise agreement in our sector - employees who earn up to $130K would only qualify for paid overtime if they work more than 50 hours a week, and only if their People Leader’s manager directs them to do so in writing, in advance.
  • The salary review process is heavily restricted – management can reject your request for any reason.
  • No commitment to protect work from home rights in the Agreement.

All votes are confidential and cannot be seen by Hostplus.

This is our chance to stand together and push for a better deal.
